JM White is a dues paying member of the underground currently hiding out on the back roads of rural Tennessee. His short stories, poems, interviews, essays and book reviews have appeared in Exquisite Corpse, Sewanee Review, Parabola, Psychedelic Monographs and Essays, Vanderbilt Review and The Mirror as well as in magazines and journals in Canada, England, Italy, Japan and India. he has compiled and edited two books: Safe in Heaven Dead: Interviews with Jack Kerouac, published by Hanuman Press, and Opening to Our Primordial Nature by Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche published by Snow Lion Press. His newest book Future Nothingness Already was published in 2005 by Wild Dog Press.
He did graduate study in Phenomenology at Duquesne University and holds an M.A. in Philosophy from Vanderbilt. He has attended summer sessions of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa Institute where he studied with Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Gregory Corso and Herbert Huncke. He has been a student of Tibetan Buddhism for over twenty years and has studied with a variety of Buddhist Masters including H.H. the Dalai Lama, Dudjom Rinpoche, Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Namkhai Norbu. He has traveled widely often visiting ancient sites including Avebury, Carnac, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, Chaco CanyonWatson Brake, Poverty Point, Cahokia and many others as well as the pueblos of the Hopi and Taos Nations.
